Bihter – Remake of Ask-i Memnu

Bihter (2023) is a remake of one of the most famous Turkish drama series Aşk-ı Memnu aired in 2008. Farah Zeynep Abdullah and Boran Kuzum are playing the main leads in the film.

The series Ask-i Memnu was a complete package; romance, drama, tragedy, all the works. It launched the careers of Kivanc Tatlitug and Beren Saat.

Synopsis

The movie Bihter takes us on a journey through Bihter’s internal conflict between her heart’s desires and her responsibilities as a wife. Bihter, a young woman known for her captivating beauty and elegance, marries a much older man to spite her mother for cheating on her now deceased father. 

The story is set in Istanbul Turkey and weaves a very strong plot of forbidden love, making it an unforgettable story of passion and tragedy. 

What makes the story so tragic?

Adnan Bey raises Behlül Haznedar, his nephew, and treats him like a son. Adnan’s daughter Nihal has a crush on Behul since childhood and has always dreamed of marrying him. Tragedy strikes when Behlul and Bihter, Adnan’s beautiful young wife, fall in love with each other. 

The film delves into Bihter’s inner turmoil and struggles to choose between her heart, Behlül, and her duty as a wife, which will burn everything and everyone around her. We cannot wait to see the new take on one of the most complex and loved Turkish TV drama.

Remake of Ask-i Memnu

The series Ask-i Memnu was aired in 2008. It was the first Turkish series that gained immense popularity worldwide and brought Turkish dramas to the forefront in the international entertainment world. Bihter played by Beren Saat falls in love with her husband’s nephew Behlul played by Kivanc  explored themes of forbidden love, passion, and tragedy.

Bihter marries Adnan Bey to save her family from the financial problems after her father’s death. Adnan is a wealthy man but is a lot older than Bihter. He is about her father’s age. Behlul, Adnan’s nephew, is a dashing young man, studying in University, falls in love with Bihter. Their love defies societal and family pressures.

Shooting of Netflix retake on Ask-i Memnu is complete and the fans are anxiously waiting for its release.

Release

It was rumored that Bihter will be released on Netflix by the end of 2023, but due to some reasons not disclosed it will not be released on Netflix. Production company Taff Pictures has recently signed a deal with Amazon Prime and Bihter will be release on Prime in December 2023.
