The Tale of the Kayi Tribe

Taking place in Anatolia, the ancestral territory of modern-day Turkey, the nomadic Kayi tribe, part of the Oghuz Turks, embarks on a relentless journey in search of a place they can truly call their homeland. Guided by Ertugrul, their tribal leader, they navigate a path marked by resilience in the face of adversity, a commitment to justice, and a deep respect for the region’s customs and traditions. As Ertugrul confronts his adversaries with unwavering strength and courage, he inadvertently plants the seeds that would eventually lead to the establishment of the Ottoman Empire, an empire that would span three continents and endure for six centuries.

Season 1

In the first season, Ertugrul and his companions have a fateful encounter with the Knights Templar during a hunting expedition. Following their heroic rescue of three Seljuk captives, they bring them back to the Kayi tribe. However, the arrival of these newcomers poses challenges for the tribe’s leader, Suleyman Shah. In response, Suleyman Shah entrusts Ertugrul with a critical task: to embark on a journey in search of fresh territory and negotiate an agreement with the Sultan in Aleppo.

Season 2 unfolds with Ertugrul falling into the hands of the Mongols. Following his escape, his reintegration into the tribe triggers discord, particularly with his cousin Tugtekin. Concurrently, Ertugrul’s once-lost brother reemerges. These events lead to a division within the Kayi tribe, with Ertugrul and a faction embarking on a journey to West Anatolia, leaving the remainder of the tribe behind.

In Season3 Ertugrul’s presence brings about significant changes for the Cavdar tribe, known as the most formidable in western Anatolia. In an effort to foster alliances, Turgut Alp forms a matrimonial bond with Aslihan from the Cavdar tribe. However, lurking in the shadows is the ever-present danger, as Emir Sadettin Kopek devises a cunning scheme to ensnare Ertugrul.

In Season 4 following the presumed demise of Ertugrul, the Kayi tribe enters a period of mourning, during which Dundar assumes leadership as the bey. However, Ertugrul resurfaces, leading to Dundar’s expulsion and a declaration of war against the Byzantines. Tragedy strikes when the Sultan is poisoned by Kopek and breathes his last in Ertugrul’s presence. The season culminates in a climactic showdown as Ertugrul confronts Kopek, and the birth of Osman is a bittersweet moment amid the turmoil.

In Season 5, a decade following the Battle of Kosedag, the Mongols have established control over the Seljuk state. Simultaneously, an assassin collaborates with the Mongols in their mission to eliminate the Oguz tribes.
